Biography

DISASTERTRON started as a collaboration project between the Spamtron, former label head of Megatwerp based out of Portland, Oregon, and Rich Vreeland, better known as Disasterpeace in 8-bit/videogame music circles.

Original material was a combination of original works from each artist, and the occasional true collaboration. "Lullatwerp" was arranged and produced by Disasterpeace out of a several bar ostinato pattern written by Spamtron; The Insidious Evil of Spam was created in a similar fashion. "Lime Bizarrevil" is the only track on the first DISASTERTRON release "Cereal Code" that is a true collaboration.

Plans have been made to release DISASTERTRON's second effort, "Neutralite" sometime in the early months of 2007 as a Disasterpeace recording. The second album sees Disasterpeace take on a more significant role, writing most and producing all of the songs. Several of the songs on the album were created by taking two mixes of the same song, one by Disasterpeace and one by Spamtron, and mixing them together to create a fresh and interesting timbre, while Spamtron contributes two tracks to this upcoming release. Tracklisting are expected to be announced sometime in February 2007.

As of the completion "Neutralite", the shift of the project has changed as Spamtron has taken a leave from the group to focus on other endeavors. When asked Disasterpeace has mentioned plans to take steps to turn DISASTERTRON into a true collaborative project, and will be teaming up with a wide variety of artists in the future.
